Master's Message
February 2008
What a great evening it
was at the Installation of Officers at Henry Barnes Lodge. To have the Grand
Master of Masons F. Keith Dreier be the Installing Officer in front of a
large crowd made it a moment that will not easily be forgotten. He and
supporting team Ronald G. Parker P.M., and Johnnie Spurlock P.M., were most
impressive installing the new officers for 2008. I would like to thank them for
the beautiful installation and for their great friendship over the years. I
certainly want to thank the ladies for the special dishes that they brought. The
food was super and when the ladies cook, we do eat better! And ‘thank you’ to
all who attended. Everything was very nice.
My congratulations to the Lodge on selecting this fine set of
officers to support their Master this year. They sure look good in their blue
blazers and matching ties. We have a busy year ahead, and the officers want to
make sure everything is to your liking. Thank you for giving me such an
outstanding group. Each one of them is a dedicated Mason and carries Masonry in
his heart. Each will do a terrific job in their respective office.
Brother Brad Dreier was selected Mason of the Month
for January, 2008. Currently stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas, Brad has served a
tour in Iraq, and is expected to return to Iraq in the next couple of months.
Brother Brad was our Jr. Deacon before entering the military. It was good to see
him. How proud we are of this great American hero, and all our military. We
thank you for what you are doing for freedom in Iraq and the USA!
Our DDGM George Baker
made his official visit and had some very nice things to say about Henry Barnes
Lodge. We do appreciate everything Brother George is doing for Freemasonry in
our District. We look forward to his District Meeting on May 30th.
The amateur Ice Hockey
game was well attended. Rob Smith’s daughter, Mink, played an outstanding
game against the men. It is hard to believe that this beautiful senior in high
school, can “rough it out” with the boys. It was a real fun time!
The Historical Committee
has received some interesting items for preservation. Bro. Bob Thurner
(Society of Past Masters of Cincinnati) presented HBL with laminated posters of
PGM Ed Landburg; Charlie Koehler sent some interesting articles along
with his Past Master’s jewel; Paul Sheldon gave a group of pictures, and
I found some things in the attic. If you have anything related to HBL’s past and
wish to contribute for display and preservation, please contact Chairman Les
Murray or any of the committee.
Bro. Darrel Mitchell
is progressing nicely on his proficiency, thanks to instructor James Spencer.
We also have some petitions soon to be acted upon. More info on this later.
Check out our web sight!
Just ‘Google’ Henry Barnes Lodge and you are there. You can get your information
about the Lodge first and fast this way. Brother Tom Buschle does a
superior job putting all this together. Thank you Tom for all you do!
