Masters Message May 2008 Brethren, I cannot say enough about the officers of the Lodge this year. They have done everything we can ask, and have worked hard to make Henry Barnes Lodge the best it can be. Brothers James Rose and Rob Smith have been outstanding in their Lodge Lectures. Our officers love everything Masonic. They carry Masonry in their heart and their everyday lives. I believe they are the best in the State. I salute them! May proves to be another busy month for your Lodge. Our last Super Breakfast for the season will be held Sunday, May 4th. The May 9th Van Dells Show is sold out. We will have an Entered Apprentice degree on May 13 at 7:00 pm (refreshments to follow). May 16th is the cut-off date for Renfro Valley Dinner Show Reservations. ($37.58 each – see Billy Scolf or Debbie Dreier). Room reservations (1.800.765.7464) are $78.82 per night. The show is Saturday, May 31st. Call now if you wish to go. At our stated meeting Tuesday, May 27 Brother Tim Cook, Ambassador for the Homes, will be with us, and Brother James Spencer’s class should be ready for their proficiency. May 30th is our District Meeting at Newport Lodge, under the direction of District Deputy George Baker Past Master of Henry Barnes. George has done an outstanding job and deserves our thanks and our support. June will be a special month for Henry Barnes Lodge. A Father-Son-Grandson (sorry no ladies rest rooms) Fishing Derby will be held 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm Sunday, June 8th at George Roberts’ lake. Hamburgers hotdogs and bait furnished. Bring your own drinks. Contact Johnnie Spurlock, Darryl Mitchell, or James Spencer for more information. Come early and stay late! This will be a real fun time. Don’t miss our F. Keith Dreier Grand Master’s Class to be June 14th. Lodge will open at 3:00 pm for introductions and the first section of the Master Mason Degree, followed by short form raisings. Dinner will be served at 5:30 pm. At 6:45 pm, the Barnestormers, under the direction of Tom Buschle, Paul Sheldon, and Dale House, will perform “The Legend of the Temple”. The Lecture will be presented by Billy Scolf. Our Past Master and Grand Master Keith Dreier has been nothing but terrific this year, bringing respect and honor to the Grand Lodge. He is quick to tell everyone over the state that he is from Henry Barnes Lodge. We are all very proud of him!!! We have eight candidates expected to receive their Master Mason Degree. They are: Darryl Mitchell, John Halsey, Curt Belcher, Bill Branch, Dan Moermond, Jeff Moermond, Jerry Ennis and Ben Kestel. We are expecting a large crowd for this special day. This will be a great day for Henry Barnes Lodge. Come and say ‘hello’! Another special day will be our Fellowship Breakfast, Saturday, June 21st. This is a “special breakfast” in that you must bring a non-mason as your guest to attend. This can be a neighbor or friend or a relative, with or without a mason in their family. A few brethren will speak briefly on various Masonic subjects, and questions will be answered. The whole Super Breakfast and remarks will not last but an hour. This is a wonderful way to introduce someone you know to the Fellowship of Freemasonry., and don’t worry, no one will ask your guest to join The Breakfast Buffet begins at 9:00 am and will be over at 10:00 am sharp. For reservations, please contact Ray Croley, Jerry Davis, Herm Dean (our May Mason of the Month), or any of the officers. Reservations are a must. More activities are coming in July and August. I believe we have something for everyone to enjoy. Come share in the Fellowship of your Lodge. Bill Lorenz, Master |
